Days of Our Lives has been on the air for almost 46 years and has seen many love stories, betrayals, and murder mysteries. February 24th the murder mystery began when Charlie Dale opened his door to someone with a gun and then that person killed him. Someone in Salem wanted Charlie dead. Now that he’s dead the question is who took the law into their own hands? Everybody has a reason for wanting to kill Charlie, but who pulled the trigger?
From the moment Charlie Dale came to Salem, there was something off about him. The timing of Charlie’s arrival was a bit too suspicious. When Allie Horton accused Tripp Dalton of rape and Tripp insisted that he didn’t do it, the only other possible person it could be was newcomer Charlie Dale. After a DNA test showed that Tripp was linked by blood to Henry, Allie’s son, the pieces came together. Charlie was Tripp’s brother and that’s how his DNA matched. Ava Vitali returned to the city to prove Tripp’s innocence and show everyone that Charlie is her son. Before she had the chance, Charlie kidnapped and drugged her. He wanted the world to think she was crazy. After Ava was found and brought to the hospital the truth about Charlie being her son came out. And after another DNA test, Charlie was found out to be Henry’s father.
Tripp tried to reach out a hand to Charlie because after all, they are family, but Charlie rejected him. He told Tripp about how Ava Vatli only had love in her heart for her first-born Tripp and that he was never good enough for Ava. Whatever Charlie did, she did not love him nor was she proud of him. He was never going to be Tripp and she was never going to love him. Charlie was turned down and set aside for a brother he never knew and could never live up to because his father was not the great Steve Johnson.
It is clear that Charlie is a broken man. While this does not excuse raping Allie or kidnapping and drugging Ava, but it does show what lead to those actions. All Charlie wanted was the love of his mother, but she rejected him and just loved her first-born son. Rejection by a parent can cause real harm to a child. It can shatter a child in a way that nobody can really know. Add that to being raised by his father who we don’t know, and Charlie might never stood a chance. While Ava has stated that Charlie’s father was always kind to her there is still no information on how Charlie’s father treated him or how Charlie was raised. Ava never loved Charlie and has always preferred her first-born Tripp. Charlie’s need to win the love and approval of Ava, plus his hatred for a brother he didn’t know, took over his life and consumed it. This leads to the attempt to destroy Tripp and Ava’s lives. Eventually, it led to the destruction of Charlie’s own life.
After everything Charlie did, somebody in Salem wasn’t about to let him walk away from his crimes. Will it be Allie Horton, the woman he raped and the mother of his son? What about Ava Vitali, his own mother? Could that be Sami Brady or Lucas Horton, Allie’s parents? Maybe it was John Black? Or Tripp Dalton, Charlie’s brother? Might it have been Claire Brady, the women he loved, or her mother Belle Brady? Maybe Nicole Walker did it? Perhaps Ben Weston, Gwen Rizczech, or Someone else entirely? Charlie has made quite a few enemies in the city of Salem. Many of them had every motivation to want him dead.
Allie Horton has the most motive to want Charlie dead. He got away with raping her in London and now he might be interested in getting involved in Henry’s life. While he’s biologically Henry’s father, could keeping Charlie away from Henry be a reason for Allie to take him out? She did tell Claire it was time to take justice into her own hands.
Ava Vitali also wants Charlie dead. Despite being Charlie’s mother, he kidnapped and drugged her and now he’s threatening to hurt Tripp as well. Ava would do anything to protect her firstborn Tripp. She even told Nicole “I brought Charlie into the world and that maybe it’s time I take him out.”
Sami Brady is next in line to want justice. Sami is Allie’s mother and if anyone in town thinks she’s going to let Charlie get away with hurting her daughter they would be wrong. Sami was also found in Charlie’s apartment the morning after he was killed. Did she think she could slip in kill Charlie and then slip out of town without anyone knowing she was there?
John Black has two reasons to want Charlie dead and those reasons are Allie and Claire. Both of which are his granddaughters. He’s also got that temper and he blacked out the night of Charlie’s shooting. Could he have shot Charlie as a way to protect both his girls?
Lucas Horton, Allie’s father went gone after Tripp when he thought he was responsible for what happened to Allie. He also openly threatened Charlie in front of his daughter. Could Lucas take matters into his own hands to protect his daughter?
Tripp Dalton told his father that he was going to make sure that Charlie would never be able to get custody of Henry, despite what Steve said could be a possibility. How far is Trip willing to go to keep Allie and Henry safe?
Claire Brady tried to use her past relationship with Charlie to get a confession out of him earlier in the day and failed to secure it. After her talk with Allie could she have gone over to his house to stop Charlie and kept Allie from doing something she might regret or that could take her away from Henry?
Belle Brady told both Claire and Shawn that she could kill him after she found Charlie in her house with Claire. She threatened him to his face. Did Belle think gunning him down would be a better answer than a restraining order she was planning to get?
Nicole Walker has been threatening both Tripp and Charlie for what happened to Allie. While Tripp is innocent doesn’t mean the threats aren’t credible. Could Nicole finally become fed up with Charlie and his belief that he can get away with what he’s done and gone after him herself?
Ben Weston, who is currently distracted by looking for Ciara, taken a break and finally taken out Charlie to protect Claire?
Gwen Rizczech who is newly found out to be Abigail’s stepsister after Gwen believed their father abandoned her. Gwen is out to make Abigail’s life hell. While Gwen is capable of anything could she have taken a break from her torturing Abigail to get rid of Charlie? She could have seen what a horrible person he was and decided he was more harmful to her plan and gotten him out of the picture. Or could have had another reason altogether to take him out.
Could it have been a family member? Could Ava have reached out to her father or Charlie father to get rid of him and they took it a little too literal?
There is no doubt that Charlie deserved to be punished for his crimes, but who was the one that finally said enough was enough and took him out?
